Widely known for his intense passion for cooking and fitness, beloved DC Chef, Will Artley can often be found training for Ironman triathlons when not in the kitchen creating dishes of impeccable quality and flavor. Chef Will is an award-winning chef with renowned culinary talents, has cooked numerous times on national TV, and garnered several RAMMY nominations, including Rising Star Chef. We are delighted to have him lead the kitchen at Grist Mill. shell.
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and raised in upstate New York, Chef Will developed his love of cooking from his parents. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY, he staged at prestigious restaurants such as Aquavit in New York City under Chef Marcus Samuelsson and worked under Chef Seth Bixby Daugherty at his renowned restaurant D’Amico Cucina in Minneapolis. After graduation, he joined Chef Bob Kinkead at the newly opened Colvin Run Tavern in Tysons Corner, VA, and cooked at restaurants such as Butterfield 9, Indebleu, and Kinkead’s.
Chef Will won many local accolades while heading up the Evening Star Café in Alexandria, VA, and was even invited to serve as guest chef at the White House, showcasing his locally-sourced, refined American comfort food. Chef Artley then indulged his love of baking by starting Pizzeria Orso, where he became certified by the VPN and the Italian government as a Master Pizziaolo, transforming the restaurant into DC’s top pizzeria and dining destination. Chef Artley also ran the kitchen of the prestigious BLT Steak in Washington, DC, has cooked meals at the renowned James Beard House in NYC, and competed on the Food Network’s Chopped TV show.
Chef Will lives in Alexandria, VA with his beloved rescue dogs.
